MACROECONOMICS
Mini Research Project

Word limit: 1,200 words maximum including all appendices and notes (but excluding references,graphs and diagrams).
Your project may be based on any of the topic areas covered in the syllabus:
Economic growth
Labour markets
Business cycles
Fiscal policy
Monetary policy
Open economy
Your research question should be of contemporary relevance – reading a quality newspaper orsimilar may help you to formulate an interesting question.
You will be expected to make use of the most up to date data in addressing your research question.
The data collected should be from a respected source (e.g. World Bank, IMF, Eurostat, ONS) andsources should be referenced.
You will be expected to link your research to theoretical concepts covered in the syllabus.
Credit will be given for using appropriate quantitative methods.
Credit will be given for developing a clear and concise analysis of the empirical facts, and reaching acoherent and logical conclusion.

The assessment criteria for this assignment will be as follows:
1. Demonstrated the ability to communicate according to the normal conventions with respect
to language use, grammar and referencing.
2. Demonstrated the relevance of the chosen research question.
3. Demonstrated the ability to identify, select and use essential readings.
4. Demonstrated an understanding of related theoretical concepts and/or models.
5. Demonstrated the ability to identify, select and reference appropriate data.
6. Presented data in a clear and integrated way.
7. Analysed, critically, the issues using appropriate concepts and methods.
8. The key elements of the topic were outlined and clearly justified.
9. Conclusions were developed clearly, logically and concisely.
